Sr. Systems Administrator (Linux) needed for a direct hire job with benefits. This position requires an active secret clearance and a Security+ or higher certification

Duties include:
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain server configurations to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability
  • Maintain server and storage availability and functionality; troubleshoot, repair and report on outages and restoration activities
  • Manage server configurations and auditable records of system configuration changes
  • Maintain security posture of servers
  • Draft weekly/monthly reports on activities

Requirements:

  • Security+ certification

Operate and maintain applicable servers with tasking that includes, but is not limited to:
  • Maintain server and storage availability and functionality.
    • Troubleshoot and repair system outages/down/unavailability/etc. to maintain compliance with applicable Service Levels.
    • Communicate status of outages
    • Provide monthly reports including details of outages and troubleshooting efforts.
    • Perform all routine and periodic checks and validations, in accordance with applicable requirements and processes. These include, but are not limited to: daily reviews of logs for anomalous or malicious activity; evaluation of logs and status for indications of degraded or impeded performance, etc.
    • Validate backups are being satisfactorily completed per policy and configuration.  Maintain a record/log of satisfactory backup events.
    • Process service tickets (e.g., ITSM), as they relate to the proper and efficient operation of applicable systems, to maintain applicable Service Levels.
    • Support all system updates, upgrades, changes.
    • Develop, generate, maintain, and contribute to documentation (e.g., procedures, instructions) that pertain to and are applicable to managed systems.
    • Communicate, collaborate, and participate with audits, auditors, and other program reviewers to facilitate compliance and resolution of issues for applicable, managed systems.
    • Provide support and applicable data/information to facilitate emergency response plan testing and execution (e.g., COOP, Contingency Plan, backup and recovery).
    • Provide support and applicable data/information including data calls, data transfers, system management, etc.
  • Manage server configurations:
    • Conform to and follow Configuration Control guidelines
    • Comply with Configuration Management processes (e.g., Configuration Management Board guidelines).
    • Maintain auditable records of system and configuration changes that describe, in detail sufficient to facilitate the reproduction and/or reversal of the changes. These records provide traceability and accountability for all system changes and shall include, at the minimum: name of the person performing the change, date/time of the change, a list of all of the affected assets/servers, pertinent information (vulnerability data, software versions, etc.).
    • Develop, maintain, and update asset records and documentation, including asset/inventory databases and system diagrams.
    • Provide monthly reports including all change records.
  • Maintain security posture of assigned systems:
    • Ensure cyber security system reporting is accurate and up-to-date
    • Ensure systems are secured per applicable STIG’ s (Security Technical Implementation Guides).
    • Ensure vulnerabilities, as identified in security scans (e.g., ACAS), are addressed (i.e., remediated, mitigated) in accordance with Cyber Security requirements and timeframes. This includes software patching and updating.
    • Ensure Host Based Security System (HBSS) software is installed and operating in accordance with Cyber Security processes and requirements. This includes maintaining security software updates (e.g., signature files) as current.
    • Provide information, data, and documentation, as required, to facilitate accreditations, certifications and approvals for system operation (i.e., Risk Management Framework).
    • Develop, generate, maintain, and contribute to documentation (e.g., procedures, instructions) that pertain to and are applicable to managed systems.
    • Communicate, collaborate, and participate with audits, auditors, and other program reviewers to facilitate compliance and resolution of issues for applicable, managed systems.
    • Provide support and applicable data/information to facilitate emergency response plan testing and execution (e.g., COOP, Contingency Plan, backup and recovery).
  • Perform duties in compliance and alignment with all applicable requirements (see Section C.3), as well as, all instructions and best practices.
  • Coordinate any planned service interruptions/outages with managers and application owners. Initial notifications for these planned outages shall be seven or more calendar days prior to the event to minimize negative effects on shipyard production.
