About the Role
Bishop & Company is partnering with our client in the retail industry to recruit an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Director of Facilities and Construction to lead the management of existing facilities and oversee new construction projects. This role requires strategic vision, hands-on leadership, and strong fiscal stewardship to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
Oversight & Management
  • Partner with senior leadership to prioritize and execute construction projects and facility maintenance.
  • Direct planning, construction, and financial management for new builds and renovations.
  • Manage vendor selection, procurement, permitting, and compliance with codes and lease requirements.
  • Oversee contractor performance, approve payments and change orders, and ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain equipment inventory, repair schedules, and budgets for facilities upkeep.
  • Respond to emergency situations outside normal business hours.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards.

Fiscal Management
  • Develop and forecast operating and capital budgets to meet strategic objectives.
  • Achieve financial goals and adhere to budget plans for assigned areas.

Operational Leadership
  • Promote a customer-focused vision and ensure departmental alignment with company values.
  • Provide leadership and direction to management staff, fostering effective communication and a safe work environment.

Other Duties
  • Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, facilities management, engineering, architecture, or related field.
    • Master’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.

  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering or construction management.
    • 5+ years in executive/management roles overseeing facilities or construction operations.

  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to hold vendors and contractors accountable to budgets and timelines.

  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • Hawaii Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Physical & Travel Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and operate office equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to travel by air and motor vehicle as needed.

Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary for this position is typically starting at $140,000 annually. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
