Job Description

Bishop & Company is searching for a Quality Control Technician in Hilo to join a great team in Hilo.  The selected candidate will ensure that production processes run reliably and efficiently.   Responsibilities of the job include ensuring quality of the products, and food safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Set and implement standards, procedures, processes, and quality controls for the manufacture of food products.
  • Conduct regular on-site products testing and shelf stability.
  • Coordinate and perform independent laboratory testing
  • Inspect food production equipment to ensure they are operational and in good working order for food processing.
  • Set and enforce health/safety procedures and guidelines for operation. Conduct daily safety inspections to ensure safe operations are met.
  • Collaborate with the quality department to monitor the various aspects of food processing to ensure final product meets set specifications.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with HACCP regulations, GMP, quality inspections, FDA guidelines, and USDA guidelines.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in food science, food engineering, biology/microbiology, or chemistry or equivalent experience in Food Safety & Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing environment also applies
  • Some experience in a food manufacturing, production, and/or quality control.
  • Proven ability to work in a laboratory for long period of time
  • Some knowledge and understanding of data science
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Deep knowledge of production management
  • HACCP Certification (Recommended)
  • FDA or USDA Regulations: Two Years (Recommended)
  • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts
  • Proficient in MS Office and related software
  • Outstanding communication ability
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to follow directions
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
  • Willingness to work night and weekend shifts
Salary range $20.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience.
