This position is e Paralegal/Legal Assistant will assist the Company’s General Counsel by providing clerical, administrative and research support services including document preparation, review and analysis; research, investigations, and fact checking; and interface with management, operations and outside counsel. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets with internal stakeholders including management, store personnel, employees in the course of receiving assignments and scheduling.
- Assist with applications for, renewal of business permits and licenses.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides oral and written analysis.
- Interviews employees and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves documents and files.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods other related matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapting to new situations.
- Ability to function well in occasionally high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Bilingual in Japanese is a plus.
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field desired but not necessary; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field desired but not necessary.
- Paralegal certificate desired but not necessary.
- Notary would be a plus.
- Related experience preferred.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
