client based in Kamuela, HI. (Big Island)




  • Manages the administration, coordination and maintenance of Human Resources (HR) functions and programs; assures operational efficiency, excellent customer service and focus on developing a high performing culture with emphasis on delivery of high-quality, safe and effective patient care
  • Ensures programs and activities support strategic plans, and the goals of the company’ s.
  • Ensures operations and functions meet standards and are in compliance with regulatory
    requirements, and policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates and coordinates functions, services and operations Key areas: recruitment, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, workers compensation, disability management, regulatory compliance, policies and procedures.


Operational Duties
  • Manages and directs the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Collaborates, coordinates, and monitors for effectiveness, local and national recruitment programs and activities to meet the staffing requirements.
  • Plans and implements employment and employee relations functions and activities, including:
    • employee on-boarding process
    • employee retention and recognition programs and activities
    • employee training and development
  • Executes the benefits programs, including but not limited to health and welfare
    plans, defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, and other benefits.
  • Executes compensation programs and activities, including the employee performance
    evaluation system; ensures adherence to program guidelines and practices.
  • Manages and oversees the disability management and workers compensation programs and activities.
  • Identifies organizational development and training needs; coordinates and implements programs and activities
  • Establishes and maintains documentation and record keeping systems to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a consultant and provides expertise in human resource functions to management and staff including, but not limited to the following: employee relations issues, resolution of complaints, grievances, interpretation of policy and contractual obligations, and other related action.
  • Conducts investigations, gathers and analyzes information and recommends action(s) to resolve relevant issues in an appropriate, effective and expeditious manner.
  • Represents the organization in arbitration and unemployment hearings.
  • Keeps President informed of any issues or concerns.
  • Serves as the EEO Coordinator and Equal Employment/ Affirmation Action Coordinator
  • Keeps abreast of laws, regulatory requirements and guidelines pertaining to human


Administrative Functions
  • Develops and implements plans to achieve goals and objectives for area(s) assigned.
  • Ensures department operations meet compliance and accrediting standards.
  • Establishes continuous performance improvement plans for department to achieve
    operational efficiencies and quality standards.
  •   Develops, implements, monitors, keeps current department(s) policies and procedures.


  • Participates, recommends and leads human resources programs and systems development
  • Leads and/ or participates in related projects and initiatives as assigned.


Manages/Supervises Staff
  • Directs and manages staff in accordance with all regulatory requirements as well as policies.


Oversees and manages budget/resources
  • Develops annual and capital budgets for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Manages resources and operates within approved budget.


Core Values/Professional Standards
  • Complies with all organization policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulatory requirements.



  • Bachelor' s degree in Human Resources, business or related field.
  • Master' s degree highly desirable.

  • Five (5) years progressive experience in Human Resources with three (3) years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred.
  • HR Generalist and healthcare industry experience highly desirable.
  • Experience to demonstrate:
    • Knowledge of employment laws (EEO, ADA, AA, FMLA, etc) and other regulatory
    • and statutory requirements.
    • Knowledge in HRIS, preferably Peoplesoft.
    • Ability to coach and counsel for performance improvement.
    • Ability to communicate at all levels and adjust messaging based on the audience, including the ability to influence accordingly.
