Bishop & Company is seeking a temp-to-hire, Jr. Accountant to verify, process, and record financial data and provide accounting and administrative assistance to the Finance and Accounting Department of a large Health Insurance Management Services company, in downtown, Honolulu.
Ideal candidates will possess the following minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Business or Accounting is preferred.
- Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficiency with a 10-key calculator
- Proficiency in QuickBooks
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and web browsers
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
- Excellent customer service, organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Work independently and in a team environment.
- Read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals; write reports and correspondence; and speak effectively with customers and employees of the organization.
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Monday-Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (1-hour lunch break)
- In-office every workday
- May be able to offer earlier start time of 7:30 am
- Parking: Available at $40 semi-monthly on15th and 30th of the month (or $80 on the 1st of the month).
