Bishop & Company is seeking an HR Specialist to join a corporate franchisee at the forefront of a multi-site food retail management company. 

Overview:
We are seeking a polished, experienced, and highly capable HR Specialist to support a fast-paced and dynamic organization. This role requires a solid HR professional with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on HR experience (8 years preferred) and strong expertise across core HR functions. The ideal candidate is someone who is nearly at a manager level, demonstrates strong judgment, and can serve as the right-hand partner to the HR leader.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource, supporting day-to-day operations and acting as the go-to for employees and managers.
  • Oversee employee relations matters, resolving issues proactively and professionally to prevent escalation.
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Administer and manage workers’ compensation processes and support safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including all Hawaii-specific benefits and employment requirements.
  • Support payroll-related tasks and collaborate with payroll teams as needed.
  • Maintain HR systems; ability to learn new systems quickly is expected.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to employees and supervisors.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR practices, programs, and policies.
  • Contribute to process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Partner closely with leadership to drive culture, communication, and employee engagement.
  • Handle confidential information with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience; 8 years preferred.
  • Demonstrated longevity and career progression in prior HR roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Hawaii employment laws, benefits, and compliance requirements.
  • Workers’ compensation and safety program experience required.
  • Generalist experience across recruiting, employee relations, benefits, payroll support, and compliance.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and hit the ground running.
  • Polished, professional presence with strong follow-through and ability to take direction well.
  • International HR experience a plus.
  • Restaurant or food industry experience highly preferred, but not required.
  • Genuine commitment to HR as a profession.


Additional Information:
  • Job Type: Direct-hire Opportunity  
  • Salary: $67,000 – $70,000
  • Location: Honolulu, HI, in-office position 
  • Parking: not provided
  • Schedule: Full time (40 hours/week), Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
