HR Generalist – People Operations & Culture
Location: Honolulu, in office
Employee Type: Full-time Regular, Exempt, Salaried
Salary Range: $65,000 – $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience & budget approved
Position Overview
Bishop & Company is seeking an HR Generalist on behalf of a confidential Hawai‘i-based organization. This role is essential in supporting day-to-day HR operations while contributing to the long-term success of the workforce. The HR Generalist will partner closely with leadership to deliver HR services across recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, and performance management.
This position requires a resourceful, hands-on professional who can balance multiple priorities while fostering an engaged, positive, and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Manage recruiting processes, from job postings to interviews and offers.
- Facilitate smooth onboarding experiences, including orientation, benefits enrollment, and relocation logistics when needed.
- Ensure thorough and compliant offboarding, including exit interviews and final pay.
- Benefits & Payroll Support
- Administer health, retirement, and supplemental benefit programs.
- Verify benefit billing and work with vendors on issue resolution.
- Support payroll inquiries to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- HR Policy & Compliance
- Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state of Hawai‘i, and multi-state employment laws.
- Track credentials and oversee compliance training for staff, including field projects.
- Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, questions, and workplace matters.
- Support performance management processes, promotions, and salary adjustments.
- Plan and coordinate employee recognition programs, events, and engagement activities.
- Employee Development
- Identify training and professional development opportunities.
- Partner with leaders to implement development initiatives that align with company goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of HR generalist experience across recruiting, benefits, and employee relations.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations (federal, Hawai‘i, and multi-state).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a security clearance.
