Bishop & Company is partnering with a well-established multi-location organization within the hospitality and retail sector is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a strategic and hands-on partner to field leadership and department managers across Southern California.
This role supports leaders in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and plays a key role in aligning people strategies with business objectives. The HRBP will provide guidance across employee relations, compliance, leadership development, and workforce planning, while ensuring the consistent execution of HR practices across locations.

The HRBP will provide guidance across employee relations, compliance, leadership development, and workforce planning, while ensuring the consistent execution of HR practices across locations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership
- Partner with field and operational leaders to align HR strategies with business goals
- Translate operational needs into practical people strategies that support performance, engagement, and retention
- Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to leaders on workforce and organizational effectiveness
- Manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with California labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and internal policies
- Apply policies consistently and exercise sound judgment to mitigate risk
- Support high-volume hiring strategies and workforce planning initiatives
- Assist with succession planning and leadership pipeline development
- Analyze workforce data such as turnover, engagement, and absenteeism to inform solutions
- Coach and support frontline and mid-level leaders to strengthen capability and accountability
- Support performance management processes, including goal setting and feedback
- Facilitate or support training related to compliance, leadership effectiveness, and workplace policies
- Ensure consistent execution of HR programs and initiatives across all locations
- Support change management efforts related to growth or organizational changes
- Partner with HR shared services (payroll, benefits, HR systems) to support a positive employee experience
- Maintain a visible presence at operational sites and build credibility with employees at all levels
- Travel up to 30% within the assigned market
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience supporting California-based operations
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law, employee relations, and compliance
- Experience supporting multi-unit, high-volume hospitality or retail environments
- Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work onsite and closely partner with operational leaders
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, PHRca, or SPHR
- Advanced coursework or certification in California employment law
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed teams
Compensation
Salary Range: $110,000 – $115,000 annually
