Job Description

Hilo Mail Clerk/Payment Processor
Bishop and Company is seeking a detail-oriented Temp Mail Clerk / Payment Processing Clerk to join the Revenue Management team in Hilo. In this role, you will support both mailroom and payment processing functions, including handling incoming and outgoing company mail, processing customer payments, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate records. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrative professional with strong organizational and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming/outgoing mail and checks.

  • Receive payments from customers via mail and drop box; process, balance, and verify daily deposits.

  • Apply payments to customer accounts, resolve discrepancies, and prepare reports.

  • Process general ledger payments, disbursement requests, and non-routine bill payments.

  • Prepare letters, reports, bills, and other documents using Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Maintain logs, files, and records accurately.

  • Answer general phone calls and provide routine customer information.

  • Retrieve account records and assist with proper application of payments.

  • Handle cash processing duties and prepare deposits for the bank.

  • Assist with special projects and other clerical tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3–5 years of general office/clerical experience required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (formatting, mail merge, formulas).

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

  • Demonstrated 10-key proficiency.

  • Experience with payment processing, billing, or cashiering preferred.

  • SAP or equivalent enterprise/customer information system experience a plus.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 65 lbs. (mail, cartons of paper, office supplies).

Additional Job Details 
  • Pay: $21/hr 
  • Shift: 7:30am - 4:00pm
  • Six (6) month – one (1) year initial assignment, with the possibility of extension based on business requirements, performance, budget
  • Parking: Provided on site
  • Dress Code: Business casual
