POSITION SUMMARY

 

Serve as General Manager / Administrator of the club. Manage all aspects of the club including its activities and the relationships between the club and its Board of Directors, members, guests, employees, community, government and industry. Continuously raise the bar for member satisfaction, employee service levels, and overall quality of dining and social experiences. Coordinate and administer the club’ s policies as defined by its Board of Directors. Develop operating policies and procedures and direct the work of all personnel. Implement and monitor the budget, monitor the quality of the club’ s products and services and ensure maximum member and guest satisfaction. Secure and protect the club’ s assets, including facilities and equipment.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Financial: Coordinates development of operating, cash and capital budgets according to the applicable budget calendars; monitors monthly budget and other financial statements; Ensures the maintenance of an up-to-date management information system. Consistently assures that the club is operated in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws. Establishes and monitors compliance with purchasing policies and procedures; reviews and approves purchasing procedures and requirements. Manages cash flow and establishes controls to safeguard funds.     

 

Reporting and Engagement: Attends meetings of the club’ s operating committee and Board of Directors. Provides advice and recommendations to the Commodores and Board about construction, alterations, maintenance, materials, supplies, equipment and services. Serves as liaison between all staff and the board. Participates in and serves as ex-officio member of appropriate club committees, including any related to Membership, Recruitment, Maintenance of buildings and grounds, and Marketing. Reviews and initiates programs to provide members with a variety of popular events. Welcomes new club members; “ meets and greets” all club members as appropriate during their visits to the club. Develops on-going dialogue and rapport with members through recognition, communication and follow-through. Coordinates the marketing and member-relations programs to promote the club’ s services and facilities to present and potential members.

 

Quality Control: properly manages all aspects of the club’ s activities to ensure and maintain the quality of products and services provided by the club. Proactively seeks methods to increase quality and member satisfaction. Oversees high quality food and beverage operation, featuring outstanding service. Ensures the highest standards for food, beverage, sports and recreation, entertainment and other club services. Directs the writing and publishing of the club newsletter, oversees communications through the use of electronic and social media and plans for intra-club public relations.

            

Personnel Management: establishes a basic personnel policy; initiates and monitors policies relating to personnel actions and training and professional development programs. Leads efforts to continuously improve staff quality and skills. Develops, maintains and disseminates a basic management philosophy to guide all club personnel toward optimal operating results, employee morale and member satisfaction. Oversees the payroll and employee benefits including health care, dental care, retirement benefits, life insurance, disability insurance, sick and personal time and vacation time.

 

Behavioral: Attends conferences, workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments in the field to enhance his or her value and quality of services to the members. Maintains relations with local, state and national associations that further the causes of the club.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations as it pertains to Food Safety,  Liquor and Labor required; knowledge of State of Hawai’ i laws and regulations highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’ s degree or equivalent related work experience required.
  • Experience and knowledge in the Food and Beverage industry required
  • Financial experience managing P&L’ s as well as developing budgets.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to interact comfortably with senior management and to build strong team associates.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize excellent initiative and judgement when addressing conflict and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment, with proficiency in identifying and implementing resolutions through problem solving, and high volume of multitasking. Performing with high levels of accuracy and accountability.
  • Possess the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
