NOW HIRING: Director of General Merchandise
Location: Honolulu, HI
Type: Fulltime; Hybrid
Salary Range: $120K to $150K annually, commensurate with experience, budget approved.



Bishop & Company is seeking a dynamic Director of General Merchandise on behalf of a well-established, locally owned company with a 75+ year history of service and innovation in Hawai?i’s food retail industry. This leadership opportunity offers the chance to shape merchandising strategy across multiple grocery locations, with a strong focus on customer experience, team development, and retail performance.
What You’ll Do:
  • Lead the strategy and execution for all general merchandise sales and merchandising
  • Build and manage assortments that reflect local trends and evolving customer preferences
  • Strengthen supplier partnerships and negotiate for pricing, product quality, and delivery
  • Oversee inventory control, pricing, and promotional plans
  • Lead and mentor store-level and corporate teams
  • Stay on top of market trends and competition
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across departments
  • Travel as needed to stores statewide and attend industry events on the mainland
What We’re Looking For:
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in grocery retail or category management
  • Proven track record in general merchandise, inventory, and supplier relations
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Ability to travel inter-island and occasionally mainland/international
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
