Bishop & Company is currently seeking an Director of Operations (Construction) for an excellent client in Honolulu, HI. Our client offers the full range of homebuilding, commercial, retail and institutional development and design services. A leading builder/developer in Honolulu since 1986, they have built their reputation as a premier general contractor.
Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to direct, coordinate, and oversee construction operations on Oahu and the neighbor islands to assure attainment of the Company’s business plans and financial objectives. Provide technical expertise and knowledge to ensure an outstanding client experience that exceeds their expectations. Manage budget and financial issues to meet or exceed the Company’s standards for quality and service.
Through the provision of a superior client experience, will ensure a quality product is delivered that exceeds expectations and is on time and within agreed upon budget and profit parameters. May meet with clients during initial contract discussions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Client and Team on design issues, to manage for a superior experience and end-product.
- Will walk job sites with clients, clarifying any design issues, verify quality standards are being met.
- Utilize scheduling and tracking the client through the soft-cycle process
- Work with centralized Purchasing and Estimating to create budgets for client presentation
- Review construction job costs and budgets.
- Review and approve client billings for accuracy, authorize payments as necessary.
- Other duties as required
Mandatory Experience/Background:
- Ten to twenty years of experience in residential and commercial construction. Comprehensive knowledge of design, construction, architecture, project management.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. Must possess superior leadership and management skills. Self-driven, highly motivated, with excellent decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction practices, sequences, schedules, methods, etc. Proficiency in MS Project, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Desired Experience/Qualifications: Construction Scheduling and Scheduling Software, Procore Project Management Software or equivalent, Resource Management
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to drive to/from different construction sites. Some travel may be required. Will frequently walk busy construction sites.
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction/Homebuilding. Ten or more years’ experience may substitute for Degree.
Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $150K-$200K. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
