Bishop & Company is seeking candidates with electrical or communication utility experience for a temporary opportunity with our client in the IT and engineering field.
The Electrical Design Engineer will require on-site work at our client's office and in the field. Candidates must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
Successful candidates will have engineering or design experience within the electrical or communication utility fields. Candidates must already reside on Oahu, out of state candidates will not be considered for this role.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Determines need, size, location and timing of power delivery infrastructure development to balance economic, environmental, social and regulatory constraints, and reliability needs.
- Work package development of overhead, underground residential distribution, and underground cable/conduit, field engineering of project requirements, identification of conflicting utilities, engineering and design calculations, and post-construction reviews
- Solves simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies.
- Develops products, solutions, processes using basic principles, theories and concepts within own technical specialty.
- Communicates with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, processes and practices related to area.
- Successful candidate will review applications for communication carrier attachments to electric utility owned power poles. Applications include wireline and wireless attachments.
- Work includes application surveys (consisting of pole loading calcs and design drawings), identification of make ready work, preparing make ready cost estimates, performing field work for surveys and design efforts, preparing make ready designs and issuing packages to crews for construction, inspecting make ready work completion, inspecting carrier installations, and preparing power connection service requests to power communication attachments when applicable.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field and 2 years of previous experience.
Pay: $35-$36.50/hr
