Location: Honolulu, HI
Type: Full-time; Hybrid
Salary Range: $120-$150K annually, commensurate with experience and approved budget
Bishop & Company is seeking an experienced Director of Liquor on behalf of a locally owned, highly respected grocery retailer with over 75 years of service to Hawai‘i. This leadership role is ideal for a dynamic professional with deep industry knowledge in beer, wine, and spirits—and a passion for aligning product strategy with evolving customer preferences.
What You’ll Do:

Develop and lead the company’s liquor sales and merchandising strategy across multiple locations

Build assortments that reflect market trends, customer preferences, and company vision

Manage vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing, strong product mix, and reliable delivery

Lead pricing and promotional strategies to maximize sales and maintain market competitiveness

Oversee inventory control to optimize availability while reducing waste

Monitor and analyze sales data and market activity to identify new opportunities

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations around liquor sales

Collaborate across departments and with store teams to execute company initiatives

Travel statewide and occasionally to the mainland/international markets for research and development
What We’re Looking For:

3–5 years of leadership experience in retail liquor, category management, or beverage sales

Strong knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, along with buying and merchandising experience

Strategic mindset with excellent analytical, negotiation, and project management skills

Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional collaboration

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Willingness to travel inter-island and occasionally mainland/international

Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
